FIRST LINE REVIEW: "I was born into the crack that split America." What a great opening line to a fantastic autobiography. I read a lot of musician bios and this was one of the very best. Intelligent, open, dramatic, heartbreaking and inspiring. I've been a huge Janis Ian fan since I borrowed "Between the Lines" from the library when I was 11. I loved it and played it over and over. Today, as soon as I hear one of the songs from that album, I'm instantly taken back to that early moment of discovering how beautifully moving music could be. And the best news is that I have tickets to see her perform in one month!
